Here is my submission for the Illustration Friday topic "Pretend". A superhero must get tired of having the same powers after a while right? So if spiderman could pretend to have an alter-ego, or power of another, he would choose Captain America! Thanks to all who commented on my last submission. Here she is! I'm making this my first submission for llusration friday! The topic was the word "repair", and i decided to go in this direction. How many times did your MOM or DAD wanna kill you for writing on the walls! Valerie is in love and she sure likes to show it!

It was an accident, it wont happen again..

Remember when you were little and you either broke something expensive or disobeyed a house rule. You would stand there and hear the speech of "don't ever do that again" or "why don't you listen!".. When i was a Teachers Assistant, i remember a Lil girl getting in trouble and she would place her knuckles together and rub them ... Don't know why but i thought it was interesting characteristic coming from a child... So.. I leave you with the next project- J

I haven't touched this in more than a week due to other unexpected priorities... I'm gonna leave as is for the time being.. She was a challenge to color but i learned a lot from it. The next couple of paintings I'll paint more "freely" and not so tight. Thanks for the advice from the all artist that have helped me.. On to the next project! - J

Sketch...

This was a sketch i did about a month ago i believe... I tried to color it in Photoshop but no luck, so i figured i should just post it up while i finish the girl. I painted her hand today and I'm drawing a ray gun as her weapon of choice. I also need a background as well. Damn, still got a lot of work huh? In the mean time enjoy -- J

UPDATE!!!

So... here's what i go so far.. plenty of fixing up to do. I've been using the oil brush in painter as well as the blender to mix my colors.. Also, left the samples of colors I'm using to give whoever views this blog an idea of how I'm choosing my colors! It's been really hard but I'm learning as i go with this process.... Thanks to whomever drops by my blog..---j

Battle of the Robots!

Still working on the girl but in between breaks i tend to work on other drawings... Jeremy Vanhoozer is an amazing illustrator and designer who i've asked recently for some painting advice on Corel Painter. His designs of robots are some of the best i've ever seen, and i figured what better way to thank him then to create something "vanhoozer" like.. Thanks for the help jeremy! Enjoy

Blocking color..?

Like i said before.. I need help with the coloring! Basic color blocking for starters i guess.. Still experimenting with brushes in corel painter to get a nice texture of her body suit.

I've been asking artist around for some coloring tips and i received some really good feed back... Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to stick with me when i attempt to color my art!!! Tried coloring this but it wasn't worth posting in the end... So i decided to just post the sketch.

A Pretty Face...

This took a very, very, very long time to do.....
The splatter brushes i used are from brusheezy.com. I'm not sure exactly which set, so whomever sees my blog and knows who did please let me know so i can give them the credit for these nice brushes.. i hate to take this down.. but if have to, then i will.. Enjoy!

Doodles of the Day...

That "Work In Progress" was starting to become a pain in the ass, so i switched my creative process to some doodles for the time being.....

Work In Progress...

When i sketch, i keep going until i see something in my "doodle" drawing. It can be the way an eye looks or the shape of a face, body shape...etc. In this case the eyes worked for me and the sketch turned into a cartoon version of the super bad character.. Don't remember his name at this moment, but that's what it turned into.

Human Canvas #2

The Original Design is from a band called "Streetlight Manifesto".. We couldn't find a big enough picture on the web to use as reference for the tattoo artist, so Mike asked if i could re-draw the original and "make it my own"... I didn't want to change it to much, but he liked the end result and got ink done!

Every time i practice drawing the male or female body, i think of comic books. Though i never really liked the comic book scene or style, there's no better place to find reference of human anatomy then comic books.
